Images from the Mind's Eye

A gifted photographer and digital artist whose pictures have been exhibited all over the world, Tommy Flynn's work has drawn rave reviews and acclaim from some of the art industry's foremost critics.

Flynn's style is as varied as his subjects and his lens captures images and concepts from the real to the surreal. He continues to explore new ways to view the world, and to redefine from his expertly wielded lens the objects that shape everyday life. From the exotic, to the mundane, Flynn's eye captures the magic inherent even in such day-to-day objects as shoes, ladders, globes, fingerprints, zippers, glasses, and more, reimagining them with a wholly new, often exotic or otherworldly, life all their own.

An equally acclaimed artist and sculptor when he's not behind the lens, Flynn often creates the unique and unforgettable props which appear in his photos, and particularly enjoys creating visual analogies for such topics as communications, current events, medicine, food and more. He enjoys shoots which take place in highly controlled environments, such as still-life tabletop or studio shoots all of which are orchestrated by Tommy in his Tribeca studio in New York City.

Tommy Flynn's work has been shown in museums and galleries worldwide, with three one-man shows at the Walter Wickiser Gallery in New York, exhibitions at the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and shows including the Gala 2000 (an invitational show in 2000 at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia), and the Spectra 99 Show, held in 1999 and curated by Tom Gitterman of The Howard Greenberg Gallery. Other recent shows include Linz, Austria, as well as a recently held show in Japan, which spotlighted his work through August of 2002.
